Whiskey Flat Days
Ages Festival is Appropriate For
Fun for the entire family.
Held every Presidents Day Weekend in February, Whiskey Flat Days is a leap back to the good ol' wild west days when the area was settled by gold miners, cattle ranchers and trappers. Join us when Kernville reverts to its old name "Whiskey Flat" for four nostalgic days of fun for the entire family.
A Parade, Rodeo, Wild West Encampment, Carnival Rides, Frog Jumping Contests, Whiskey Flat Mayor Contest, Food & Craft Booths, Epitaph, Costume & Whiskerino Contests, Line Dancing, Clowns, Gold Panning, Wood Carving, Pet Parade, Blue Grass & Country Western Music, Art Shows, Gunfighter Skits, Melodramas, Kids Activities, Tours, Games, & much, much more are all reasons to attend the Kernville Whiskey Flat Weekend.
The event is hosted in Kernville, California located in the southern Sierra Nevada, the original Whiskey Flat after a “slight” adjustment in location from the original Kernville location which was located on the bottom of what is now Lake Isabella. Lake Isabella is a dammed portion of the Kern River which was built by the Army Corp of Engineers in 1948.
Not only is Whiskey Flat Weekend a promise of a rip roaring good time. Part of the fun includes electing a “no good” do-gooder Honorary Mayor whose election bribe dollars are well spent to help community projects ranging from supporting Little League, the local school’s ECHO program, and using monies to offset local cemetery upkeep. The mayor races of past have been very successful, raising upwards of $20,000 in one year for the event and charities.
In addition to the wild west activities, vendors from all over are invited to host a booth to showcase and sell their goods ranging from photographic art work, to paintings, tee-shirts, and jewelry, to homemade fudge. There are also food booths featuring favorites like bar-b-que, Indian fry bread, kettle corn, and bottomless lemonade.
The weekend would not be complete without the town carnival that features rides for kids of all ages as well as the usual carnival food we all love like cotton candy and caramel apples!
So come on out ya’ll and experience the best of Kernville, Whiskey Flats, and the Wild Wild West!
