The Angler's Edge

Guide or Outfitter
The Scenery of The East Walker, Rosaschi Ranch, NV March. – Don Weirauch

ADA Accessibility Notes

On the West Carson, on Hwy 88, in Hope Valley, there is ADA accessibility. The Forest Service has built a very nice area that is wheel chair accessible, and is railed so that fishing can be done, right on the river! The Angler's Edge Fly Shop is ramped and also has ADA facilities.

Established in 1994, The Angler's Edge is proud to service the local and visiting fly fishers of the Eastern Sierra. We've grown up with the area and its fisheries. Owned and staffed by avid fly fishers, our intimate knowledge of what's fishing well and when can save you frustrating hours on the water and get you into fish as soon as possible.

Many visitors ask: "Is there fishing up here?" All are surprised when we show them maps of all of the lakes, creeks, rivers and streams that are 5 minutes to 1 hour away from our door.

Do we have fishing here? Yes, we do and a lot of it! Look at the species in the area:

Trout/Salmon: Rainbow, brown, brook, tiger, cuttbow, bowcutt, golden, lahotan cutthroat, paiute cutthroat, mountain white fish, and kokanee salmon.

Warm Water Species: Small mouth bass, largemouth bass, stripers, wipers, walleye, channel cat, bullhead cat, white cat, crappie, and spotted bass.

Our shop is located on Highway 395 in the town of Gardnerville, Nevada. Just 2 blocks north of Sharkey's Intersection on the West side of the street. With a large front lawn for casting.

Areas of Service and Expertise

Here, in the Eastern Sierra, we are fortunate enough to be near 2 Blue Ribbon (Quality) Trout streams. The East Walker, that runs through both the states of California and Nevada, and the East Carson that runs from Alpine County, CA into Douglas County, NV. Our wild trout waters are located on historic gold and silver rush rivers in Alpine County. The East Walker, near the historic ghost town of Bodie, is filled with stories of stagecoach robberies and the Washoe Indian tribe's summer camp. The East Walker, a high desert river, runs through the Rosaschi Ranch, now owned by the US Forest Service, settled by the family back in the mid 1800s. Large German brown trout, and beautifully colored rainbow trout lurk in the waters with a backdrop of the snow capped Sweetwater mountain range.

The Eastern Sierra's only native trout, the Lahaton Cutthroat is making its recovery in many of the nearby waters with the help of Nevada Dept. of Fish and Wildlife.

Eco-Friendly Notes

The Angler's Edge practices and encourages Catch and Release fishing. Our stocked streams in the area have increasingly been subjected to more and more angling pressure. To insure that trout are available for all to enjoy, we encourage and teach proper Catch & Release techniques to all of our customers, whether in our store location of out on the water. We will teach you how wonderful it can be to "catch" a fish, take a memory with a camera and release it back, knowing you may be able to catch him again the next time you're out!

The Angler's Edge practices "Leave No Trace". Our Eastern Sierra's have had many scars left upon our mountains in the pursuit of minerals and logging. They are now almost back to what they were 150 years ago. We are dedicated to minimizing our impact on the soil, and pack out all our trash.

Pet Friendly Notes

It is not recommend to bring animals along with you on a guide trip.
