Sunset Inn is situated in the natural environment. We strive for harmony with our surroundings, do our best to reduce our energy usage, reuse office paper and grocery bags, make use of environmentally friendly cleaning products, and offer an extensive recycling program to our guests. We also provide delicious, 'fair trade', organic coffee in each cabin. Yes, even on vacation it can be easy to care for the earth.
Three quaint cabins far from the crowds, yet in close proximity to all the natural wonders of Yosemite National Park. Situated within an ancient forest at 4,500 ft. elevation, Sunset Inn is tucked away on a lush private meadow surrounded by huge aromatic pines, fresh air & star studded nights.
Sunset Inn is an historical property. The first inhabitants, local Miwok Indians, spent their summers here feasting on acorns, abundant wildlife, and other local delicacies. Evidence of their habitation from prehistoric times can still be seen in the grinding stones near the cabins overlooking the lush meadow.
Originally homesteaded in 1883, Sunset Inn has had a colorful past. In its hey-day, around the turn of the last century, Crocker Station, the main stage coach stop along the Big Oak Flat Road to Yosemite National Park, housed nearly 200 inhabitants. The 2 acre Sunset Inn property was purchased and eventually became the only portion of this 160 acre homestead still privately owned.
Lodging Style and Amenities

For entertainment, in addition to the great outdoors, we offer a game cupboard in each cabin with playing cards, board games, puzzles, magazines, local literature, books and park information. Each cabin also has a clock radio, CD player, or MP3 player.
