Locally or Family Owned Business Notes

Spinner Fall Lodge is owned by Dan Smith, who has operated the business for a decade. It is located at the same location as a business called Rick's Lodge, which burned in the early nineties.

Another location, Circle 7 Guest Ranch, is operated by the Spinner Fall Lodge business and offers lodging on Lower Fall River a few miles away.

Spinner Fall Lodge offers the only lodging and dining establishment on picturesque Upper Fall River. The clear waters and world class fishery of Fall River make the Spinner Fall Lodge a popular destination for fishermen and other visitors to the area. Local residents return again and again for the excellent cuisine in the dining room. Eight guest cabins offer rooms with a view of Fall River. The full bar in the dining room is open until 10pm.

Fall River is a world famous fishing destination, and Upper Fall River offers the beautiful scenery of this alpine valley. However, most of the property on Upper Fall is privately owned, so the access to the river offered by Spinner Fall Lodge is worth the trip in itself.

The lodge is popular with fishermen, and guide service is available through Spinner Fall Lodge. A to-go 'river lunch' is available to take with you, and breakfast is included in your stay so you can get right out on the water.

The dining room and bar are bright and look out over the lawn to Fall RIver. The full bar is staffed by friendly folks who make you feel welcome. There is also a large patio for outside dining or beverages.

Lodging Style and Amenities

There are eight cottages at Spinner Fall Lodge. Guest rooms are modern with rustic charm.

Recreational Opportunities

Fishing on Fall River is unmatched. The Fall River and its fishing is almost sacred to many local residents and its pristine condition benefits from this reverence.

Fall River is an almost entirely spring-fed river, and Spinner Fall Lodge is near its headwaters. The crystal clear waters of Fall River offer fantastic habitat for the native trout, but can make for challenging fishing. Mornings and evenings are best, and many locally famous hatches produce conditions not to be missed.

Guide service is required to access the best areas to fish in Fall River, and can be lined up through Spinner Fall Lodge. The Lodge also rents out boats to guests and has a nice fishing dock in the river.

Guide service on Fall River, or any of the surrounding waters, as well as the most up to date information on fishing in Shasta County, can be obtained from The Fly Shop at or at 1-800-669-3474.
