Sequoia Motel and Cabins
Located on Highway 198, four miles west of the main entrance to Sequoia National Park.
My husband Tom and I welcome you to Sequoia Motel. We bought this quaint little motel in January of 1996, moving from Los Angeles to Three Rivers, California and have never regretted the move. The motel, which is also our home, is a short drive to the main entrance to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.
We have discovered one of the benefits of being a small, family-owned motel is the special opportunity we have to meet so many wonderful people from so many different places. We enjoy visiting with our guests and getting to know their names, their stories and how they view our country. What we enjoy even more is when they return for another visit or send family or friends with a message of their fond memories.
Sequoia Motel was originally built in 1955. While it has been renovated, it is still a personable “Mom and Pop” roadside motel with fourteen rooms and three cabins.
There is nothing about our place that is stamped “franchise”. The rooms are compact, simple, and cozy, with quilts on the beds, windows that open for fresh air and direct access to the outside with plenty of relaxing places to sit to view the surroundings.
Because our location is quiet, and is not surrounded by many other businesses, you can occasionally step out of your room and see a deer, a turkey or two walking down the driveway. You might even see a bear (though not often) and the birds--there's all kinds of birds. You can watch hummingbirds, blue jays, woodpeckers, finches, eagles, egrets and herons, to mention a few. At night, once the lights go out, you can see the most beautiful sky full of stars. In August the meteor showers put on a show of shooting stars that are just amazing.
After a full day of exploring Sequoia National Park or visiting art galleries, restaurants and shops in Three Rivers, you can relax and unwind, enjoy a dip in the swimming pool, have a barbecue or sit back quietly in the gazebo and plan your next day of fun. We are happy to provide high speed WiFi for our guests, and if you have need of a computer, we have been known to share ours. All of our rooms have coffee and tea, and when the season is right, you are welcome to enjoy the fresh tangerines and grapefruits from the garden. For a complete breakfast the We Three Bakery and Restaurant is a short jaunt up the road from us on the way to the park.
Sequoia Motel is located directly across the highway from the White Horse Inn (our local wedding facility). We’re centrally located to local shops, art galleries, the Three Rivers Historical Museum and other restaurants in Three Rivers. The main entrance to Sequoia National Park is four miles up the highway, due east from us.
This is our home. We want to share our small town life and be a good neighbor to the vacationing motorist, who may be taking a once in a lifetime road trip to tour the West and view our National Parks. Our desire is to help our guests have an enjoyable personal experience, one that will give them fond memories of their vacation in the Sierra Nevada mountains, which are right in our back yard.
I look forward to saying hello and hearing your stories.
Chris Schlossin, your host at Sequoia Motel.
