How to Participate

The South Yuba River State Park Association (SYRPA) Save Our Bridge (S.O.B.) Campaign is underway to repair, restore and reopen the Covered Bridge at Bridgeport, a committee is working to spearhead this effort. The committee includes South Yuba River State Park Association (SYRPA) members led by President Dave Anderson, South Yuba River Citizen’s League (SYRCL) Executive Director Caleb Dardick and Nevada County Regional Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Susan George.

The committee meets the first Tuesday of every month at 9:30am at SYRCL Headquarters in Nevada City, CA. The goal is to raise awareness of the plight of the bridge, to put pressure on State Park officials to fund the work needed and to solicit donations to provide matching funds as needed.

The S.O.B. Campaign and committee need more dedicated community members to join in the effort to Save Our iconic Covered Bridge. Please consider joining the committee and becoming an active participant. Contact Dave Anderson 530-432-2359, or Doug Moon 530-205-9554.

What You Can Do

The longest single-span wooden covered bridge in the world located at Bridgeport in the South Yuba River Historic State Park in Nevada County is in a state of deterioration.

Currently, the State of California has mandated that the structure be closed to pedestrian traffic. The Save Our Bridge Campaign is working hard to raise the funds required to stabilize and restore the iconic 150-year-old bridge.

We need your help to restore and reopen the historic Bridgeport Covered Bridge at South Yuba River State Park for public use. Visit southyubariverstatepark.org for more information and a PayPal donation link.
