Plasses Resort has been owned by local families from Amador County for the past 9 years and previously owned by the founding Plasse family for over 150 years.
One of the oldest resorts in the Sierra Nevada. Plasse's was established in 1853 by a spirited young French immigrant, Ramón Pierre Plasse, and soon became home to his lovely wife, Louise. It was first operated as a trading post along the Carson Emigrant Trail and then as a resort until today. Plasse's is located at the South end of Silver Lake along scenic Hwy 88 with spectacular views of Silver Lake and Thunder Mountain.
Lodging Style and Amenities
Plasse's Resort is an RV and tent campground. Amentities include a store, restaurant, bar, shower and laundromat facilities. Horse camping is also available. Many users stay for the season (3 months). Some families have vacationed at Plasse's for over 35 years.
Pet Friendly Notes
Pets are allowed, but must be leashed. Horses allowed in horsecamp grounds.
Recreational Opportunities
Silver Lake is home to Rainbow and Brown trout up to 8-10 lbs, and Mackinaw up to 25 lbs. There are also many tributary streams feeding the lake with good fishing opportunities. Plasse's is located at the edge of the Mokelumne Wilderness area which provides miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Picturesque mountain meadows and wildflowers abound. Resort amenities include horse pits, volleyball, basketball, playground for kids, and a new bocce court.
