Nature Center at Happy Isles
ADA Accessibility Notes
This family-friendly nature center is FREE and open to the public from 9am-5pm May-September. It is a short walk from the Happy Isles shuttle bus stop (#16), and is the center for the Junior Ranger program.
Several short hiking trails nearby allow families to explore the different environments of Yosemite: forest, river, talus, and fen. The Nature Center at Happy Isles features natural history exhibits and interactive displays, with an emphasis on wildlife. You can also see evidence of the huge 1996 rockfall from the Glacier Point cliff far above the Nature Center. Happy Isles Nature Center is also the starting point for many of Yosemite's most iconic trails, such as Half Dome, Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls.
The Yosemite Conservancy began significant renovations in 2015, replacing many of the old displays with new sculpted animals and interactive displays that will engage children and adults alike! Help support the Yosemite Conservancy's efforts by visiting www.yosemiteconservancy.org to check on current projects and make a donation.
