Mountain Top Bed and Breakfast

Bed and Breakfast

We are a small mountain bed and breakfast located at 7,200 feet in the Sequoia National Monument. We are open 365 days a year. We offer gourmet breakfast and fine wines from the Paso Robles area. The area has many trails and beautiful water falls, all in a quiet and peaceful area.

Much of the Ponderosa area, which is surrounded by the Sequoia National Forest, is still owned by the Kramer family who acquired the land in 1895. In the early years the Kramers, San Joaquin Valley settlers, grazed sheep, cattle and horses in the large meadow known today as Kramer meadow. The area was also a campsite for travelers venturing over the mountains from the Sierra Range to the Mojave Desert. Today several mountain communities offer a variety of guest amenities including restaurants, general stores, gas station, ski equipment rentals and snowmobiling.

Trail of the Hundred Giants, located 11 miles south, is a groomed forest trail wandering through a grove of Giant Sequoias, the largest trees in the world, and native only to the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Dome Rock is a scenic lookout just three miles south, that provides a panoramic view of the Needles and the Kern Valley. Dome Rock is a world class climbing challenge.

Breakfast is ready! Guests love the hearty breakfasts before their day of adventure or peaceful retreat. – Mountain Top Bed and Breakfast

Bed and Breakfast Style

From the two available bedrooms each with its own private bath, guests look out on the peaceful mountain countryside. Guests have the use of a large, airy living room with satellite large screen TV, surround sound, VCR and DVD with a collection of movies.

Each morning I serve a hot gourmet breakfast which can include a selection of Aebleskivers (Danish Pancakes), crepes, cheese blintz souffle, egg blossoms, chocolate scones, Ahwahnee creamed bananas, or Jose's oven pancakes.

After a day of hiking or cross-country skiing, our guests return for wine, cheese and crackers served 4-5 PM. In the evening they enjoy hot homemade cookies, coffee, spiced cider or hot chocolate by the fireplace.

Bed and Breakfast guests can enjoy a relaxing soak in the spa while viewing a roaring fire in the stove nearby. Attached to the home, with its own separate entrance, is a self-contained rental cabin which can sleep up to seven people.
