Maddalena Ranch Wildlife Preserve
This 575-acre property, is the only private property in the Sierra Valley that allows the public access to the largest freshwater wetland and marsh habitat in the entire Sierra Nevada.
This wetland supports a host of bird species of special concern, including sandhill cranes and white-faced ibis, and is a fantastic spot for wildlife viewing, nature photography, and exploring the headwaters of the Middle Fork of the Feather River along an interpretive trail.
A partnership between the Feather River Land Trust, The Nature Conservancy, Sierra Business Council, and rancher Tony Maddalena, this preserve is a shining example of managing land for wildlife, low-impact recreation, education and sustainable agriculture.
