Fivespot Cabin in Pinehurst
Fivespot cabin was built in the 1940s when logging was a way of life in Pinehurst, located in the Southern Sierra Nevada foothills. The cabin is an art-filled retreat to enjoy while visiting Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and the Sequoia National Forest.
Pinehurst was a flourishing logging community for decades. Pinehurst Lodge, a short walk from Fivespot, is a locally-owned and operated restaurant in a 100-year-old sawmill. It continues to be a hub of activity for locals and visitors alike. Other nearby historical logging sites are Neff's Camp and Millwood.
Also a summer vacation destination, Pinehurst attracts San Joaquin Valley residents who take advantage of cooler forest temperatures to get needed relief from the brutally hot Valley summers. Cedarbrook, an early-20th century cabin community built by Mennonite families from nearby Reedley around a lovely year-round stream, is a 10-minute walk from Fivespot Cabin.
Today, small cabins used as summer homes, rentals, and by full-time residents, are scattered throughout the forest. Pinehurst's year-round population is around 350.
ADA Accessibility Notes
The front approach to the cabin has a long staircase, but from the back there are only two steps. The interior is on one level.

Locally or Family Owned Business Notes
Bachrun and Mahalia LoMele relocated to Pinehurst from Brooklyn, New York, in 2003. The cabin that was to become Fivespot was purchased in 2007 and they have been welcoming visitors from all over the world ever since.
Bachrun is a visual artist, painter, and printmaker, and Fivespot bears his artistic stamp in its custom tile work, distinctive color scheme, lively decoration, and art on the walls. Mahalia is a Juilliard-trained pianist, educator, and author. She assists Bachrun in the art studio and attempts to weave together the various threads of their lives into an organized whole.
