Clearwater Lodge at the Pit River
Locally or Family Owned Business Notes
Leaving behind the business and political arena to pursue her dream of owning a guest retreat, Michelle Titus purchased Clearwater Lodge just in time to open for the 2013 season. Joined by her daughters Allie and Raquel Ferrari, Michelle thoroughly enjoys providing her guests an unforgettable experience in their new home. Clearwater Lodge has never been in more caring hands. Michelle's dedication to carrying on the original Clearwater legacy of hospitality, fine dining and world-class guided fishing is evident in every detail of your stay.
Clearwater Lodge on the Pit River is a magnificent Arts and Crafts building dating to 1921. Using lava rock and clear fir from the surrounding forests, skilled craftsmen created a masterwork of lodge architecture unique in California. Paneled walls and tall beamed ceilings rise above the clear fir floors. The original copper and stained glass chandeliers illuminate the Great Room. The original 1923 billiard table has been restored and serves as a gathering place for evening entertainment.
The Lodge and surrounding property originally served as the housing and recreation facility for the staff and operators of the adjacent PG&E Pit One Power House as well as other power houses in the vicinity. It has evolved into a renowned fly fishing destination that has hosted anglers exploring the wonderful variety of trout waters of northeastern California for over 80 years.
Lodging Style and Amenities
Clearwater Lodge guests experience fine dining, comfortable accommodations and a relaxed atmosphere for sharing the days adventures with their fellow guests. The wide front porch is an inviting place to enjoy a glass of wine or beer and share stories of the days adventures. Our massive stone fireplace with cozy seating beckons you to linger and relax. The billiard room is the place to be after dinner for fun with new and old friends and our guides.
Magnificent old sycamore trees create a canopy of shade along our entry driveway and there are chairs and benches placed among the oaks and pines on the beautiful grounds for relaxing.
Pet Friendly Notes
Call first; there are designated rooms for guests with pets.
Located in the heart of some of the finest trout fisheries in the United States, Clearwater Lodge provides expert guiding on world class waters. Anglers often have the opportunity to experience multiple waters in a single day. Hat Creek, Fall River, Pit River, the McCloud, Burney Creek and the Lower Sacramento are all easily accessible each day.
Though the majority of our guests come to Clearwater Lodge to experience fly fishing, there are many hidden treasures to be explored all around this region. The 100 miles of rolling mountain country between Mount Lassen to the south and Mount Shasta to the north is rich with scenery and recreational opportunities. This "Intermountain Area" is a land shaped by volcanic activity and is very different from any other part of California. Hot and cold springs, fumaroles, old lava flows and lava tubes invite exploration. River canyons cut the land and there is water everywhere, in springs, creeks, lakes and rivers. Golf, cycling, hiking and more await you.
