All ages family fun.
Take a drive into the Sierra foothills to celebrate the harvest at the annual Autumn Shindig.
Each October residents of the San Juan Ridge celebrate the end of summer with a home-made, family-friendly carnival that benefits the area's only community arts center: the North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center. The North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center is located inside an authentic 1876 one-room school house.
This year's music stage rocks with local bluegrass inspired bands including Purdon Crossing, Cousin Cricket, the Buffalo Gals, WonderFunk, and Alisha and the South Yuba String Band.
A farmer's market features local produce, flowers and honey. Local artisans feature one-of-a-kind crafts, clothing and gifts. Food vendors are on hand with ice-cold beer, local wines, home-made tamales, hot dogs and cotton candy.
Carnival games abound. Buy tokens and take a chance at the ring toss or the dunk tank. Enter the pie making contest. Applaud the children's talent show. And don't miss the sack races and the community tug-of-war on the Schoolhouse lawn.
